For six years, Elias and Anthony Haddad ran Kalibre Education, a K–12 tutoring centre in Punchbowl, working with hundreds of school-aged children. Time and again they saw the same thing: the children who thrived were the ones with strong foundations built in their earliest years — and the ones who struggled were often playing catch-up on skills they could have developed far sooner.

So they decided to start at the beginning.

Through Anthony's role as a core member of Arkki Australia, the brothers discovered a way of teaching young children that matched everything they believed — Finland's celebrated, creativity-first approach to education. Smart Steps is the result: a centre where children don't just get ready for school, they learn how to think, create and solve, from the very first years.

Because we're a single, family-run centre — not a national chain — we can do things our way: know every child by name, answer the phone ourselves, and care about your family the way we'd want ours cared for.
